Recipe book review – Isa Does It

Isa Does It by Isa Chandra Moscowitz

We are always looking at recipe books, blogs and in lots of other places for ideas and inspiration.. enter Isa Does It by Isa Chandra Moscowitz. This is her best recipe book yet – and that is not to say the others aren’t brilliant, they are. She just keeps getting better.

Before you start trying the recipes you’re pulled in by the gorgeous photos and design of this recipe book. It’s nice to have a recipe book with lots of full colour photos to drool over.

Isa Does It

Here are the recipes I’ve tried so far…

Ranch Salad
Green salad/potatoes with a delicious creamy avocado dressing, one of the tastiest dressings I’ve tried. Also really liked the chick pea nuggets that go with it.

Kale Salad with Butternut Squash and Lentils
Great salad, would also be good served warm.

Chicky Tuna Salad Sandwiches
Very nice, have made this a couple of times now. Great flavour with  crunchy chunky texture.

Tamale Shepherd’s Pie
The base was fairly average, the lime mash was delicious.

Cheddary broccoli soup
Amazing soup, quick to make and tasted superb. The creamyness comes from a savoury cashew cream which works really well and I also liked the miso in it.

Babushka Borscht
If you like beetroot, which I do, a great soup. Beetroot is good. Hot beetroot – as in this soup – is really really good. I added hummus as didn’t have cashew cream and it was a good addition.

Pineapple Upside Down Cake
Lovely flavour, texture a bit heavy though.

In summary, highly recommended recipe book. The book has pride of place on top of my pile of recipes books, with many recipes marked for testing (with post it notes I hasten to add, there is no way I’m marking the book). I look forward to updating this blog with the results.
